Jenny Moore Claims Ladies Championship Title
On Saturday 1st July the Ladies Championships were held at Port Erin Green.
Jenny Moore took the title on a very tricky green, beating Rebecca Teare in the final 21-18.
The day started with 17 entries. In the quarter final stages Clare cooper (marown) just came through 21-20 against her team mate Debbie Leece, Janet Monk (Mooragh Park) won 21-12 to Kim Hargraves (South Ramsey). The finalists booked their places with Rebecca Teare overcoming fellow marown player Charlotte Clark 21-9 and Jenny Moore ended Jayne Smith’s (marown) hopes of a final winning 21-19.
The Semi Finals saw a marown clash of cooper and Teare with rebecca just edging the lead enough to win 21-17. Jenny dominated her game against Janet winning 21-7.
The final was a much slower game and after 16 ends was level on points at 9-9. But after another 5 ends Jenny was leading 14-11 as Rebecca was unable to claim any 2’s at all in this game. By the 29th end at 20-14 Jenny just needed 1 more point, But Rebecca wasn’t about to let her take it easily and dug in deep to win the next 4 ends 20-18. On the next end Jenny claimed a single to end the game at 21-18 and claim her Isle of Man Ladies Championship title.
The presentation was made by the ladies Association Competition Secretary Christine Holland. Jenny and Christine thanked Ann Gale, who was unable to attend for sponsoring the Competition and everyone who entered, also Port St Mary Club for providing measurers and refreshments for the Day.
The next Competition Held by the Ladies Association is on 15th July and is the Girls Junior Merit at Douglas Bowling Club at 9.30am, also on the same day starting at 1pm is the ladies Millennium 4’s Team Competition.
