Drewett Wins Pre-Festival Open

Photo: Kath KinleyOn Sunday 1st September, Castletown Bowling Club hosted the pre-festival Ladies’ Open. 39 bowlers from the Island and the UK took part, playing on a green in excellent condition in showery conditions.
Losing at the quarter final stage were home greeners Joy Stephens, Marie Ashurst and Kath Kinley, and visitor Kath Watkinson (Mere Brow). In two well contested semi-finals, home greener Hannah Drewett just got the better of visitor Nicola Boulton (Frodsham Red Lion) and Helen Clee (Wrockwardine Wood) beat Olwen Edwards (Llanfairpwll).
In a very good final, Hannah Drewett was victorious 21-13 against Helen Clee.
Club President, Hilary Kermode, made the presentation and thanked everyone who had supported the competition and helped in any way. Special thanks were given to The Sidings who kindly sponsored the competition.
