Isle of Man County Crown Green Bowling Association

The Flo Doan Ladies’ doubles was played at Peel on Saturday 1 August. Having been cancelled last year because of the rainy conditions, the weather made amends this year giving beautiful conditions which together with a well-running green led to some fine bowling.

Semi-finals: Mary Moffatt and Cath Parker 21, Josie Harding and Flo Price 9; Janet Monk and Lilian Slinger 21, Lynda Cadamy and Caroline Whitehead 12.

Although the first two ends were shared, Janet and Lilian soon took control winning the next four ends, including a 3 and a 4, to take a 16-7 lead. Mary and Cath could find no way to contain the mother-daughter combo, and despite winning two more singles had to concede the title to their opponents 21-9.

The presentation was made by club captain, Heather Horsburgh, who thanked all those who had stayed to the end, those who had helped with the smooth running of the event and the green keeper for the excellent green.
